On October 2, 2021, Hope and Purpose Ministries distributed hurricane relief items to about 1,000 people in Wallace, Louisiana. St. John Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre, St. John Parish President Jaclyn Hotard, and ministers and organizers from across the area were on site to lend a hand in lifting up these communities.
People from St. John and St. James Parishes, communities that were devastated by Hurricane Ida, came to receive ready to eat food, canned goods, cleaning supplies, baby formula, and other essential items. "This means we're getting better everyday. You're (Deacon Oney) here, Hope and Purpose is here, ya'll have been on both sides of the river uplifting the community giving them those things that you can't get everyday right now, feeding them, giving them a good hot meal, giving them things to get their lives back in order," Sheriff Tregre said. "One day at a time. You guys are here and I'm glad to be a partner with you guys and we're going to keep this going until everybody is back in their houses."
"I'm so grateful to you and your ministry for shining the light on this community and continuing to serve. You're always there stepping up to the call of service," Parish President Jaclyn Hotard said as volunteers filled up cars with essential items.
About 40 volunteers, many from hard hit areas in St. John Parish including local community leaders, continued distributing supplies for hours until the last car in line came through to receive. "This is the best thing to ever happen to the westbank of St. John Parish," local leader Lionel Bailey said.
Hope and Purpose Ministries will continue to serve the people in areas, like St. John and St. James Parishes, that were devastated by Hurricane Ida. If you'd like to help us with our hurricane relief efforts, please donate at
